ME
Hello! I am Jessica No-tar-gia-como, an event and commercial photographer located in Woodstock Vermont but available for projects anywhere in the world.
I fell in love with the process of photography as a child. Being attracted to a type of creativity that requires rules, organization, and procedure, the darkroom was my sanctuary.
While pursuing my photography degree in Philadelphia I could not get enough of lighting, large format cameras, and the business that held it all together. Most importantly though, I fell in love with people and their stories. I learned how to tell your stories through my images from some of the best professional photographers in Philadelphia. They mentored me, hired me to run their studios and trusted me with their clients.
In 2007 I started a photography business in the Washington DC area with a friend and fellow photographer who was my opposite. We built and ran a very successful business for 9 years as Paired Images. However, after spending so much time focusing on business my entire being was calling for change and adventure.
My husband and I build out a van and spent most of 2016 traveling the country, hiking and climbing. It was one of the most challenging but rewarding things we’ve ever done. We decided to settle near my parents in Woodstock Vermont. Surrounded by the mountains we have found the calm and stillness we were looking for in our new home.
MY WORK
While I am naturally calm and somewhat reserved while documenting events, I am also quick to laugh and will use my experience to help you when needed. My goal is to make your event and the images awesome. I do this with minimal interruption. I am a very deliberate and patient shooter with a photojournalist style, but get bossy when it’s time for group portraits. My work is clear, consistent and honest. I prefer to work with the light around me, but will create my own when necessary. After the formalities are behind us you will find me on the dance floor.
